All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is India's leading medical research institute located in the capital city of New Delhi. The institute occupies the first position in the NIRF 2022 ranking for the fourth consecutive year in the medical category. Currently, there are 15 AIIMS in India, located in Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur, Bhopal, etc. AIIMS Delhi is the first institute of the group to be established in the country under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the governance of the AIIMS Act. , 1956.
The institute has collaborated with several foreign universities to expand opportunities for joint research, and student and faculty exchange programs. It also signed a memorandum of understanding with University College London to enable research collaborations and increase the number of academic and student exchange programs between the two institutions.
At present, AIIMS Delhi offers courses in 43 disciplines including UG, PG, Ph.D., and super specialty courses in fields like Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Biotechnology, and paramedics. Among all, the most popular course at AIIMS Delhi is MBBS. The program contains a total of 125 places, and students applying for admission must take the NEET-UG exam. AIIMS Delhi offers internships to all students by selecting them for Postgraduate studies (UG TO PG). Thus, junior residents taking postgraduate courses receive INR 64,000 and senior residents who have completed their postgraduate studies receive INR 74,000 per month for 3 years. AIIMS Delhi has two patents to its name, one is "Sealbio: A New Endodontic Treatment Sealless Regenerative Technique" approved. Another patent has been filed on "Method for automatic detection of anatomical landmarks in volumetric data". In 2016, AIIM Delhi established a Centre for Integrative Medicine and Research (CIMR) to build the convergence of contemporary medicine with ancient and traditional Indian medical practices
AIIMS Placements
At present, AIIMS Delhi does not offer direct internships in companies as the institute focuses on preparing students for postgraduate studies. AIIMS Delhi offers paid internships to all UG and PG students at its hospital and other government hospitals.
Students are offered a stipend of INR 17,900 per month in the Internship Programs (UG and PG only) of AIIMS Delhi. So, the young residents doing postgraduate courses get Rs 64,000, and the senior residents who have completed postgraduate get INR 74,000 per month for 3 years. The institute also requires a one-year paid internship for MBBS graduates.
AIIMS Scholarships
AIIMS is offering Merit Cum Need-based scholarships for financial support to undergraduate students in college, The fees are so low that anyone can afford it, but scholarships are still given to nursing students and MBBS. A stipend is also provided to students studying and practicing at the same hospital.
AIIMS Facilities
Library: AIIMS has a well-equipped and furnished library in an area of 27,000 square feet containing more than 61,000 books, more than 53,000 magazines, and more than 14,000 reports.
Hospital and Medical Facility: There are medical facilities, such as a cancer hospital, a trauma center, specialized care for parents with 464 beds, and a community medicine center that serves more than 84,000 people and contains 50 beds.
Laboratories: There are well-equipped laboratories at different AIIMS Delhi campuses such as EEG departments, Diagnostic Audiology departments, etc.
