Indian Institute Of Technology Guwahati
Established in 1994, the Guwahati Indian Institute of Technology is one of the six prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology. With eleven departments and three interdisciplinary research centers, it has a campus on the north bank of the Brahmaputra River, near the eastern Indian city of Guwahati.
IIT Guwahati is the sixth IIT established by the Government of India. It houses the first research park in India. IIT Guwahati is ranked 7th among the best engineering universities in India by NIRF. Admission to IIT Guwahati 2022 for the B.Tech program has ended. Registration for the UCEED 2023 and CEED 2023 exams is extended until November 9. The exam will take place on January 22, 2023. Also, the GATE 2023 application form window will now open from November 8. Candidates can make corrections to their submitted application form. before November 11, 2022. The GATE 2023 exam will be held between February 4-12, 2023. Research at the institute runs the gamut from highly theoretical sciences to industrial sciences, encompassing the traditional physical sciences and newer disciplines such as nanotechnology, biotechnology, and artificial intelligence. The university also conducts research in areas such as manufacturing and product design. It attaches great importance to industry-sponsored research.
IIT Guwahati is ranked 7th in the NIRF engineering list. The institute currently has 1,700 students and 410 teachers. IIT Guwahati offers UG, PG, and Ph.D. degrees in 57 courses. The courses taught are in the fields of engineering, management, science, and humanities. IIT Guwahati campus is considered to be the most beautiful campus in India. It has the Brahmaputra on one side and hills and vast open spaces on the other. The campus houses 11 departments, 5 academic centers, 5 extramural centers, and 13 hostels. Also, IIT Guwahati has 135 MoUs in 31 countries. These associations have facilitated student and faculty exchange programs, student internships, joint conferences, and workshops for joint research projects.
The institute has 2 main programs namely BTech and MTech. For the IIT Guwahati BTech program, a candidate has to get a rank of 438-8954 in JEE Advanced exam. For admission to IIT Guwahati MTech, a GATE range of 465-754 is required. The total fee charged by the BTech program is INR 8.54 lacs. Whereas, for the MTech program, a fee of INR 1.30 Lacs is charged for the entire program.
Students at the institute have access to a wide range of sports, including track and field, cricket, hockey, and basketball. There are several clubs for students who are passionate about sports. Art lovers are also catered for, with photography, music, film, and dance clubs. The Student Welfare Office also promotes activities aimed at strengthening students' general and English language skills. All this is organized by the gymkhana, the democratic student body of the university, which organizes workshops, seminars, and events throughout the year.
The institute offers bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs. Although the emphasis is on technology and engineering, it also offers a master's program in development studies and doctoral programs in the humanities and social sciences.
Also, IIT Guwahati recently launched the School of Business to offer a full-time residential MBA program. Another recent development of the institute has been the launch of the Cutting Edge Center for Nanotechnology (CNT) and the Center for Indian Knowledge System (CIKS) in November 2021, which will help students focus on advances in scientific research.
The institute also has an alumni association with chapters throughout India and in the San Francisco Bay Area. It also runs a mentoring program. One of the institute's centers, the Center for Professional Development, helps graduates take the first steps in their careers, with assistance in preparing for interviews and written tests.
IIT Guwahati students receive job offers from companies like Microsoft, Google, Adobe, Amazon, Apple, and Flipkart. The institute recently launched its placement campaign of 2022. The highest salary package of INR 2.5 CPA has been recorded so far. By the end of Day 2 of the placement drive, 38 recruiters had actively participated and made 530 placement offers.
